BLAST   August 6 - 10, 2008

University of Denver, Colorado, USA

Hotels: Unfortunately there are no hotels within walking distance form DU. The following two hotels offer DU rates and are just a few stops on the Light Rail from DU. The DU Light Rail stop is located at the north end of the campus, a 15-minute walk to Olin Hall. [It is advisable that you make reservations as soon as possible; ask for the DU rate, which may not be available after the hotel has reached a certain capacity. The Democratic National Convention will take place in Denver later in August (25-28), so it is wise to book in advance.]

La Quinta Inn - Denver Cherry Creek: 1975 S. Colorado Blvd. (303) 758-8886. DU-rate: $69.

Four - Denver Points Sheraton Southeast: 6363 E. Hampden Ave. (303) 758-7000. DU-rate: $80 (1-866-500-0246).

For a list of more hotels that have a DU rate please click here. (Note that these rates are outdated, so you need to call and ask for the current rate.) You can also consult the DU resources page.

Dorms: We have very limited space at the dormitories (Centennial Towers) on campus. The rooms have shared bathrooms and the rate is $40.50 (+14.85%) per night for single rooms and $30.50 (+14.85% tax) for double rooms. The duration of the stay has to be exactly August 5th (check in) – August 10th (check out). Check out on the 10th must be done by 10am. Luggage will be kept in a secure location at the dorms until the evening of the 10th. (The conference will be over by about noon on the 10th.)

Centennial Towers is located at the north end of campus (close to the light rail station) and it is a 15-minute walk to Olin Hall. The address (1770 S. Williams St.) may be useful if you are using a shuttle service from the airport; you can also mention that it is directly across the street from the DU-light rail stop. Most dorm rooms have already been assigned to invited speakers and supported young researchers. The remaining rooms can be booked on a first-come first-served basis through on-line registration.

If you will be staying on campus and would like to purchase a breakfast plan, please pay in advance when you register on-line. The cost is $8 (+8.1% tax) per day. Breakfast will be served at Centennial Hall (1870 S. High St.) and it is almost across the street (High St.) from Centennial Towers. It is the first building to your left as you walk south on S. High St. Breakfast will be served during 7-9am.

Parking at the dorms is available at the cost of $6 per day.
